ALLISON MOYERS

S W E E T   S O R R O W
SOLO EXHIBITION

What is art? Art grows from joy and sorrow, but mostly from sorrow. It grows from human lives.

-Edvard Munch

Heartbreak is a subject that Allison Moyers often explores in her figurative works.

This series of paintings focuses on dramatic narratives surrounding the beginnings and endings of love.

The spectrum of color that varies with each painting portrays the often erratic emotions associated with love and pain.

Each piece is an open-ended story in familiar settings that contains personal symbols and objects from the artist’s past

as she remembers her first breakup. The scenes are nostalgic with touches of the comical and unsettling.

They take us back to another time that connects us to the romantic in us all.
